Tonight will perform at the Sand Piper Pub in White Rock for a blues contest, Mark and I.  The winner receives studio time to record songs the band has written or sung.  I only heard about this last Friday, June 27th from the Now newspaper, an article.  I did not even know that we were going to do this until Monday night, when I learned it was a go from the woman organizer of this event.  I had to change the wheels inside my head to get ready for it.  I had to let Mark know because he didn’t know that night. He visited a friend that night. White Rock is located direct south of Surrey. White Rock is located exact next to the Border, frontier, entry way to Blaine, Washington, US.  I am not Canadian.  I am a Dine’ known as Navajo originally from the US.  Vancouver’s lower southern mainland is located near the Canada/US border.

I/we shall see. I do it for the experience of performing live and to get exposure for Mark and I or for Mark only. I cannot focus on the music scene that much right now because I have to totally focus upon other artistic matters in my life that are more important like the post-production aspect of the Graffiti, to finish report.

Mark and I we’ve done this before together, not a lot but a few times in the last 4 years. I’ve performed by myself a few times as well.    So I am a little nervous a bit about it now. This morning I will go somewhere by myself and try to re memorize the words to the songs, although I have gone over these 2 songs in the past, House of the Risin Sun and Stop Breakin Down.  I do not practice constantly like a real performer who’s into it. I’m guessing that’s why it happens that I have re memorize the songs.

All I can guess is that we might play to a crowd of people or to hardly anybody.  We have done that.

The contest focuses on the blues.  Thats’ my musical genre I know the best about. I am not an expert about it, but I am versed enough about it than other  people I know in Vancouver.  Once in a while I have met people, who know a lot about it.   Actually those people in Canada have been First Nations singers/musicians.  Once in June 03 at an art conference in Regina, Saskatchewan at a cafe there was an open mike. I met an Indian guy.  We struck up a friendship fast. He was very friendly.  I asked him if he knew any blues songs. He said he knew the House of the Risin Sun song. He said yes.  So we practiced it together before we went on.   He knew how to play it. I could tell.  We did the open mike that night. That was a spontaneous get together with someone I hardly knew, an Indian guy who knew how to play guitar well.  He sang as well.  It was fun to do and a little bit nerve wracking at the same time. You never know whom you might meet and it works it out fine as a performance act.

Took more pics of Mud Bay Park and areas west of there that are better and different. I will post them later on and pictures of other cats.  Some of those cats are good models.
