2021 single-channel video, sound, 4:28 minutes “She walks back to go forward.” The imagery of Shi Arl is grounded in the artist’s lived experiences of both belonging and not belonging to the world of the Diné people. This self-portrait music video documents a conflict between two worlds as the artist moves through spaces personal and public, in an effort to reconnect to her Nation’s language. The song is currently being translated from English into Diné.

First link listed within this page contains Polygon detailed description of show. Describes the eleven other filmmakers. Check that out too.

Lonsdale is located East of West Vancouver. A 5 minute walk. Can take Seabus at Waterfront to get there or take buses. The Seabus Ferry lands at Lonsdale Terminal which has a market. Basically walk off Seabus. Walk right to market. Walk to first main street, turn right and the gallery is located to the right before the craft beer maker.

This workshop started July 2021 and will complete February 6, 2022. I have not viewed the other completed works and will view them. All works extend 5 min. or less. Curious to view how the videos look. I am told the screen is huge upon a wall. Masks are required. Request donation for entry.
